Welcome! We’re excited you chose to visit the Blueridge GMC website and hope you find the information provided helpful. Blueridge is an active church located just off 288 in the Sunnyside Community. Through our commitment to following Christ as disciples, we seek to learn together, pray together, worship together, play together and serve our community together with God’s love and grace. Please feel free to explore the site and discover the ministry happening in and through Blueridge Methodist Church. We look forward to worshiping with you soon.
If you are visiting the church for the first time, we know taking that first step through the doors can be intimidating. We promise to do our best to greet you and welcome you warmly without putting you on the spot or embarrassing you. We will ask you to complete a guest card and place it in the offering plate. We’ll even invite you to join us for coffee. When all is said and done, we simply want you to feel welcome.
How do I become a member?
Our hope is after you meet us that you will want to serve God alongside us as a member of Blueridge Methodist Church. At the end of each worship service we extend an Invitation to Christian Membership and Discipleship. You are invited to come forward where you will be asked to make a covenant to:
- To renounce the spiritual forces of wickedness, reject the evil powers of the world, and repent of your sin
- To accept the freedom and power God gives you to resist evil, injustice, and oppression;
- To confess Jesus Christ as Savior, put your whole trust in his grace, and promise to serve him as your Lord;
- To remain faithful members of Christ’s holy church and serve as Christ’s representatives in the world;
- To be loyal to Christ through The Methodist Church and do all in your power to strengthen its ministries;
- To faithfully participate in its ministries by your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness;
- To receive and profess the Christian faith as contained in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments
How can I be baptized?
If you have not been baptized, please make that known to the pastor and we will schedule a meeting and a date for baptism. Then you will be baptized in a service where you will become a member of The Methodist Church.
Membership
For those who are temporarily not residing near their home church, you may join the church an affiliate member, and will be entitled to all local church privileges and responsibilities, except being able to vote in bodies that relate to the General Church (i.e. District, Annual, or General conference etc.).
For those who wish to maintain their membership in their former denomination, you may join the church as an associate member and will be under the same conditions as an affiliate member, but you may not become a voting member of the Administrative Board.
Getting Married
Congratulations on your engagement and upcoming wedding! We would love to stand with you as you make your covenant commitment to God and one another. At Blueridge GMC, a wedding is a sacred worship service, officiated by one of our pastors. The pastor and staff welcome the opportunity to assist you in making your wedding a worshipful and memorable experience.
